Insurance for the vehicles that keep your business moving.
Commercial auto covers vehicles your business owns, leases or uses, from one work truck to a full fleet. The limits, exposures and filings are different from personal auto, and we match you with carriers that fit your operation.

What commercial auto covers, in plain English
Coverage, limits and exclusions vary by carrier and policy. Your policy documents are what decide a claim, and we walk you through them before you buy.
Liability
Injuries and damage your drivers cause to others. Many contracts ask for a $1 million combined single limit. Federal minimums for interstate for-hire carriers start at $750,000 and are higher for hazardous materials and passengers.
Hired and non-owned auto
Covers your business when employees use rented vehicles or their own cars for work. Their personal policies may not cover business use.
Collision
Repairs your vehicles after a crash, whoever was at fault, minus your deductible. Lenders and lessors usually require it.
Comprehensive
Theft, vandalism, fire, glass and weather damage, which matters for trucks parked overnight on job sites.
Uninsured / underinsured motorist
Protects your drivers when the other driver has little or no insurance.
Medical payments / PIP
Medical bills for your drivers and passengers regardless of fault, where your policy includes it.
Federal and state filings
Regulated carriers may need filings such as the MCS-90 endorsement, a BMC-91 with FMCSA, or Washington intrastate filings. Not every insurer offers every filing, so we match you with one that does.
Trailers and mobile equipment
Owned and rented trailers, and equipment attached to your vehicles. Cargo is a separate policy, and we'll tell you if you need it.

Commercial Auto questions
Can I use my personal auto policy for my business vehicle?
Usually not. Many personal policies exclude or limit business use, which can leave you without coverage after a crash. Read commercial vs. personal auto.
What liability limits do I need?
It depends on your operation and contracts. Washington's minimums are low, many contracts require $1 million, and federal minimums for regulated carriers start at $750,000 and go up by cargo type.
What is hired and non-owned auto?
Coverage for your business when employees drive rented vehicles or their own cars for work. It can be added to commercial auto or general liability.
Do I need an MCS-90 or other DOT filing?
If you are a for-hire motor carrier operating across state lines, or haul certain hazardous materials, usually yes. Tell us your USDOT number and what you haul, and we'll check what filings apply.
Do you cover the tools in my truck?
Not under commercial auto. Tools and equipment need an inland marine policy. See general liability for the rest of a contractor package.
