Coverage Guide

What General Liability actually covers.

GL is the cornerstone of business insurance. Here are the protections built into a standard policy.

Bodily Injury Liability

Third-party injuries on your premises or from your work.

Pays medical bills, settlements, and legal defense if a customer, vendor, or visitor is injured because of your business operations — like the classic slip-and-fall, or a tool dropped from a scaffold.

Property Damage Liability

Damage your business causes to someone else's property.

Covers repair or replacement when your operations damage a customer's property — flooring scratched during install, a fixture broken on a job site, a client's laptop knocked off a desk.

Products & Completed Operations

Claims arising from work you've finished or products you sold.

Protects you after a job is done. If a deck you built collapses six months later, or a product you sold causes injury, this coverage responds. Critical for contractors, manufacturers, and anyone who delivers a tangible result.

Personal & Advertising Injury

Libel, slander, copyright issues in your marketing.

Covers non-physical harm: defamation, copyright infringement in advertising, false arrest, and invasion of privacy claims. Vital for any business that markets online or publishes content.

Medical Payments

No-fault, goodwill medical bills for minor injuries.

Small medical limits (often $5,000–$10,000) paid without proof of fault when someone is hurt on your premises. Resolves minor incidents quickly before they escalate to liability claims.

Legal Defense Costs

Pays your attorney even if a claim is groundless.

Defense costs are paid in addition to your policy limits. Even when you're not at fault, the cost of defending a lawsuit can easily run into six figures — GL covers it.

Certificates of Insurance (COI)

Proof of coverage for clients & job sites.

Most clients, landlords, and general contractors require a COI before you can start work or sign a lease. We issue them fast — often the same hour you ask — and can name additional insureds when required.

Additional Insureds

Extending your policy to protect partners.

Many contracts require you to add the client, landlord, or GC as an 'additional insured' on your policy so they're protected for claims arising from your work. We handle the endorsements.

Not sure what you need?

We'll walk you through it and build a policy that actually fits — no jargon, no upselling.
